Drawing a line under disputes.

Commercial Litigation

In the Legal 500 2017, we have been described as ‘Integrated and friendly, but still able to call on sufficient resources for heavy litigation‘ as well as providing ‘great technical expertise and a good level of service across a broad spectrum of commercial and other litigation, ranging from insolvencies and professional regulation to catastrophic injury cases, crime and family law.’

Commercial litigation is one of our core strengths.  At any given time we are working on resolving multiple commercial disputes for both our local and international clients.

One of the reasons our clients come to us is that we don’t rely on aggression.  Instead we look to combine our knowledge of what works in legal terms with our trademark business-minded approach.   The first stage of that process is always to try and find a solution by using alternative dispute resolution methods like mediation, arbitration or negotiation.

If the dispute does escalate we know it’s going to be a stressful time for you so we’ll always be on hand, ready to provide updates at your request.  Then, throughout the dispute, we will provide clear direction so you know exactly where you are, what to expect and what to do next in order to reach the resolution you want as quickly as possible.

We will also do everything possible to spare you the expense and stress of an unnecessarily protracted litigation.

We have extensive experience across every area of commercial litigation, a list that includes partnership disputes, contractual disputes, commercial property and lease disputes, employment disputes and contentious trust matters.

We are also developing an enviable reputation for working in partnership with law firms in other jurisdictions to successfully resolve cross-border international disputes or to bring proceedings in Jersey to support ongoing matters in other territories.  When those situations arise the areas we cover are primarily linked to foreign insolvency proceedings and applications for freezing orders in support of foreign proceedings.

If you would like to discuss a commercial dispute in more detail with one of our experts, please contact Jeremy Heywood or David Benest or call us on +44 (0) 1534 760 851.
