Joanna Gardiner


Joanna Gardiner is a lawyer in the Criminal Law section of the Litigation team. She has particular experience and expertise in acting for defendants in criminal law matters.

She primarily works with Partner Adam Harrison and Sue Quinn.

Professional Background

Joanna read for the Bar at The Inns of Court School of Law. Prior to this, she studied English law and Spanish Law at The University of Kent at Canterbury and spent a year at La Universidad Complutense in Madrid as part of her studies.

Prior to joining the firm, Joanna was a Senior Associate at Ogier, where she worked for 16 years undertaking private client litigation in the areas of crime, family, personal injury and clinical negligence.

Joanna spent several years working in London before returning to Jersey, including practising at the English Bar and working for a London law firm.

Professional Memberships

Joanna is a member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, an associate member of the JFLA (Jersey Family Law Association) and a member of JPIMS.

Notable cases

AG v Yacoub (Superior Number) -This case is the one of the few times that a non-custodial sentence has been imposed for commercial importation of Class A drugs.

Amy v Amy  – This is a significant case on conflicts of interest and the rights and responsibilities of Tuteurs.
