Discrimination

The Discrimination Law came into force in September 2014 to protect those from discrimination in the workplace on the grounds of ‘protected characteristics’.

These characteristics have been outlined as:

  • Race
  • Gender
  • Sexual Orientation
  • Age
  • Gender re-assignment
  • Pregnancy, Maternity
  • Disability

This is a very complex area of employment law and is constantly evolving with society. We advise and train companies on discrimination, the key considerations and best practices organisations should adopt.

In addition we advise employers facing discrimination claims by their employees and how best to handle the claim to minimise reputational and financial damage to the business.
